Lex Mundi Member Firm Lawyers from Around the Globe Convene at University of Cambridge for Top-Level Business Management Training for Lawyers
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) January 14, 2016 -- In a continuing effort to increase the impact and effectiveness of lawyers working with their clients, Lex Mundi recently presented the third annual Lex Mundi Institute Business Management Program in collaboration with the University of Cambridge Judge Business School.
The Business Management Program is designed to increase the impact and effectiveness of lawyers in working with clients by increasing their understanding of clients’ business challenges and the concepts that underlie their business operations.
“Clients now expect more from their legal advisors,” commented Carl Anduri, President of Lex Mundi. “They expect their advisors to understand their business and where they can add value.”
The intensive six-day program, held January 3 – 8, 2016, was taught by the faculty of Cambridge Judge Business School. Thirty-one Lawyers from 28 countries experienced the unique atmosphere of Cambridge while learning through highly-interactive lectures, group discussions and case studies. The curriculum included:
• The core concepts of strategic management, including an introduction to the main schools of business and corporate strategy
• Macroeconomics and aspects of globalization
• Corporate finance, capital markets and derivatives
• Managing risk and uncertainty
• The role of operations in a business organization, including process improvement and the principles of integrated supply chain management
• Organizational change
• Cross Cultural Communication
The program was open to Lex Mundi member firm lawyers with at least ten years of practice experience. Participants were required to be nominated by their member firm.
“The Lex Mundi Institute Business Management Program trains lawyers to think more like their clients and be more effective in their legal teams,” said participant Alan Adcock, Partner at Tilleke & Gibbins, Lex Mundi member firm for Thailand. “The program delivered on both fronts, and I was also able to see well beyond my own practice area to learn more about business and management issues our clients face. The opportunities to build relationships and learn from the perspectives of other participants was also equally valuable, and I look forward to working with these fine individuals in the coming years.”
The Lex Mundi Institute is led by Suzanne Fine, Lex Mundi’s Director of Professional Development. Since its first program in 2004, the Lex Mundi Institute has provided unique, intensive week-long advanced learning opportunities for Lex Mundi member firm lawyers and corporate counsel. Ms. Fine stated, “The Business Management Program is the most recent addition to the Lex Mundi Institute’s line-up of leading edge programs. We look forward to working with Cambridge and building on the program’s success in the years to come.”
