Lexington Christian Academy Seniors Sign National Letters of Intent to Play College Soccer
(PRWEB) February 12, 2015 -- On Friday morning, February 6, 2015, the LCA Athletic Department hosted a signing day ceremony for two accomplished student-athletes. Abigail Bridge and Kesha Porter are LCA seniors who have had tremendous soccer careers and will be taking their talents to the next level. Both Bridge and Porter signed their National Letters of Intent to play collegiate soccer on Friday.
Abigail Bridge, from Sherborn, came to LCA as a junior in 2013 and helped propel the Lady Lions soccer program to a NEPSAC Class C quarterfinal appearance in 2013 and a NEPSAC Class C Semifinal berth in 2014. Bridge played striker and attacking midfield for the Lady Lions. She was selected as Eastern Independent League Honorable Mention in her junior season. She worked her way back from injury during her senior year and had a great impact on LCA’s success last fall. Abigail signed her National Letter of Intent to play soccer at NCAA, Division 1, Big South Conference member, Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA). Bridge joins a Liberty Women's soccer team that claimed the 2014 Big South Conference Championship and will be looking to repeat in 2015.
Kesha Porter, from Methuen, came to LCA in 6th grade and has been a big part of the Lady Lions Soccer program since then. As an 8th grader, Kesha made 13 appearances for the varsity team. Throughout her LCA career, Kesha was primarily a defensive midfield player – controlling the game on both ends of the field. Freshman year through senior year, Porter was an Eastern Independent League All League Selection and in her senior season she was selected to the Massachusetts Prep School All-State Team. She was also selected at the team Most Valuable Player in 2013 and team CO-MVP in 2014. Kesha signed her National Letter of Intent to play soccer at NCAA, Division 2, Northeast 10 Conference member, Merrimack College (North Andover, MA).
“Abigail and Kesha are outstanding soccer players and students and even better people. I have no doubt they will continue to excel at the college level,” LCA head coach Ryan Patrie ’03 commented. “We celebrate their accomplishments with them and pray that they will continue to follow God’s calling in their lives. They are talented players, terrific teammates, and I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching each of them,” said Patrie.
Last fall, Abigail and Kesha led LCA to a 17-2 overall record that was good enough for second place in the Eastern Independent League and a semifinal appearance in the highly competitive NEPSAC Class C tournament. They have both left a strong impression on the LCA girls’ soccer program and will be greatly missed next year, but Coach Patrie and the LCA girls soccer family is thrilled about the opportunity presented to both of them.
