Lexington's Downtown Arts Center to Host Kentucky's Largest Burlesque Festival, Nov. 21-22
Lexington, KY (PRWEB) November 12, 2014 -- The Kentucky Burlesque Society proudly announces its third annual Bluegrass Burlexpo: Kentucky Burlesque and Variety Show, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21-22, at the Downtown Arts Center. The Bluegrass Burlexpo features a diverse line up of award winning performers, including two-time Golden Pastie Award winners from the New York Burlesque Festival, Amber Ray and Lola van Ella, Top 25 Burlesque Performer, Michelle Mynx, and US Pole Dance Federation Miss Sexy 2009, Alethea Austin. The award-winning cast of national and local performers is also scheduled to present intensive master-class workshops at Defiance Studios in Lexington throughout the weekend. Advance tickets to Friday and Saturday performances range from $15-40, students and seniors $10, and can be purchased via Brown Paper Tickets at http://www.bluegrassburlexpo2014.brownpapertickets.com. Tickets increase $5 at the door both nights, excluding student and senior tickets, which will always be $10.
“It was important to me to bring the Bluegrass Burlexpo to the Downtown Arts Center and it brings the Kentucky Burlesque Society into the fold of organizations utilizing its beautiful space,” said Siobhan Atomica, founder of the Kentucky Burlesque Society and the Bluegrass Burlexpo, on moving the festival downtown from previous locations in area bars. “It’s time to bring the craft of burlesque and variety performers into the spotlight of the wonderful downtown arts scene we enjoy here in Lexington.”
Founded in 2012, the Bluegrass Burlexpo is the first and only festival of its kind in Kentucky, uniting theatrical variety performers from across the nation. Since its inception, the festival has grown to encompass bigger and better acts as well as more genres of performance artists including tap dancers, acrobats, aerialists, stripteasers, comedians, sideshow freaks, fire and flow performers, and variety acts performing original acts over two unique nights at the Downtown Arts Center.
Other featured performers for the Bluegrass Burlexpo include Vita DeVoid (Tampa), Freya West (Nashville), and Xander Lovecraft (STL), with Kentucky Burlesque Society founder, 2014 Shimmy Showdown Champion and 2014 Kentucky Burlypicks Silver Medal Best Improv Award winner,Siobhan Atomica, Pixie Pistola, Bijoux Bordell, Matt O'Flows, Flow Jo, Teresa Tomb and Natasha Nova as home-state features.

More About the Producers:
Siobhan Atomica led Rebel Riot Revue, Lexington's premier burlesque and variety show as founder, director, producer and manager from January 2011 to December of 2013. Presently, Siobhan has moved on to be the Executive and Creative Director of Vagabond Artists Collective, a non-profit organization for circus and variety performers dedicated to upholding and advancing their respective performance art forms and educating the community on the importance of performance art. She has also formed The Kentucky Burlesque Society, an organization to unite burlesque performers, producers and shows across the bluegrass state in an effort to further the art of burlesque within the Commonwealth. Since 2012 Siobhan has produced the first and only burlesque festival in Kentucky, the Bluegrass Burlexpo. She also teaches dance, burlesque, and performer theory classes at Defiance Studios as the Headmistress of the Kentucky Academy of Burlesque and dance at Mecca Live Studio & Gallery in Lexington, KY.
The Kentucky Burlesque Society is comprised of an exceptional group of burlesque performers and producers spread throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky who have united to preserve and advance the art form of burlesque.
