Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) May 27, 2015 -- LexisNexis® Legal & Professional, a leading provider of content and technology solutions, announced today it will again be the official title sponsor for the 2015 LexisNexis IRONMAN® 70.3® Raleigh triathlon presented by PNC. The triathlon is a remarkable test of human endurance that spans a little more than 70 miles and attracts thousands of extreme racing enthusiasts, supporters and volunteers.
“As a world-wide company with tens of thousands of employees, we have a mandate to think global and act local – and this is a great event to encourage our work force to be engaged in the local community,” said BJ Schaknowski, vice president of Sales and Professional Services, with the LexisNexis software division – and a veteran of extreme racing. “Since our Technology Center of Excellence is still relatively new to Raleigh, this is also an exercise in branding and a great way to build our brand as a potential employer.”
Last year sixteen LexisNexis employees, including a three person-relay team, competed and finished the race. More than 50 employees, donning red LexisNexis t-shirts, volunteered to support the race administration and fanned out across the course at water points, for example. The company also brought lots of “SWAG” to hand out to race supporters. LexisNexis branded bullhorns and cowbells were visibly employed to cheer on competitors along the streets in downtown Raleigh.
“LexisNexis has 21 people registered to compete in this year’s triathlon including senior LexisNexis executives who have never competed in an event like this,” added Schaknowski. “Competing in an event like this is a great analogy for leadership because succeeding in a race or in business both center on mental preparation and the willpower to see things through.”
LexisNexis has a recruiting site dedicated to North Carolina that currently lists dozens of open positions. These positions range from software engineering to user experience design – and from marketing to human resources. Forbes recently named LexisNexis #7 on a list of the top 10 U.S. technology employers, based on an independent survey of 20,000 U.S. employees at large companies. There are more than 400 LexisNexis employees located in the Raleigh office, which is based on the NC State Centennial Campus.
The 2015 LexisNexis IRONMAN 70.3 Raleigh triathlon presented by PNC will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2015. The completion begins with 1.2 mile swim in Chatham County’s Jordan Lake, a 56 mile bicycle race through Chatham and Wake Counties and finishes with a 13.1 mile run that ends in City Plaza in downtown Raleigh.
