With the holidays quickly approaching, add these must-see events to your family’s checklist:
Holiday Sightseeing
• The Easton Peace Candle – The largest non-wax candle in the U.S. is a symbol of unity that sits atop the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ monument in the city’s Centre Square. Enjoy the charm of the season with a collection of family-friendly events, including cookies with Mrs. Claus to candlelight tours and holiday shopping.
• Historical “Christmas City” – Celebrating its 275th Anniversary, Bethlehem, Pa. is the place to be during the holidays as the historic community comes alive with festive cheer featuring horse drawn carriage rides, bus and walking tours and streets lined with twinkling lights.
• Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem – At the heart of Christmas City is Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem, a European-style holiday market with aisles of handmade works, live Christmas music, delicious food and more. Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem is open Thursday-Sunday till December 18.
Holiday Theatre Performances
• The Miracle of Christmas at Pines Dinner Theater in Allentown – Don’t miss this heartwarming story of Clara, a young girl from New York City who has forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. Yet, once Clara visits relatives in Vermont, her Christmas vacation turns into an unforgettable adventure. Shows run Wednesday-Sunday till December 23.
• A Christmas Carol at The Civic Theatre in Allentown – One of Lehigh Valley’s longest standing holiday traditions, A Christmas Carol, tells the classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge’s transformation after he encounters the ghost of Christmas past, present and yet to come. Shows run until December 17.
Unique Light Displays
• Lights in the Parkway – Drive through one of Allentown’s most beautiful parks as it is transformed into a winter wonderland filled with thousands of lights. The display runs through December 30.
• Winter Lights Spectacular at Lehigh Valley Zoo – Featuring nearly one million, energy efficient lights and state-of-the-art musical light shows, Winter Lights Spectacular runs Thursday-Sunday till January 1.
• Koziar’s Christmas Village – Award-winning Koziar’s Christmas Village dates back to 1948 when William M. Koziar decorated his home and dairy farm for his family’s enjoyment. Today, the countryside is transformed with more than one million Christmas lights reflecting off of a scenic lake. The display runs through January 1.
Holiday Family Fun
• Allentown’s Holiday Train Exhibit at America on Wheels – Enjoy the sounds, lights and action of model trains with a visit to America on Wheels Museum. Visitors are encouraged to bring a new and unwrapped toy for the Toys for Tots program and help brighten a child’s holiday. The holiday train display runs Tuesday-Sunday until December 31.
• PEEPSFEST® – Ring in the New Year at PEEPSFEST®, the two-day festival filled with family-friendly activities and the PEEPS® Chick Drop. Join the celebration as a 4.5-foot tall, 85-pound lit PEEPS® Chick descends at 5:15 p.m. on December 31.
