Ligonier Chief of Police Appointed to Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) June 18, 2014 -- Bryan K. Shearer was recently appointed to the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board by Governor Pence. Chief Shearer also currently serves as the Chief of Police at the Ligonier Police Department.
The Law Enforcement Training Board serves as the governing body of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and satellite academies. The board is comprised of 17 board members, all of whom are selected by the governor. Shearer will serve a four-year term through April 30, 2018.
In addition to the position of Chief of Police with Ligonier P.D., Shearer also serves as the President of the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police Foundation. Previously, Shearer served as President of the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police, Northeast Indiana Training Council, and the Ligonier Rotary Club, as well as on the Parkview Noble Hospital Foundation Board.
After graduating from West Noble High School in 1993, Shearer attended Vincennes University in 1994-1995 in their Law Enforcement program, then graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1996. In 1997 Shearer was hired by the Ligonier City Police Department and promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 1999. Shearer has held the position of Chief of Police in Ligonier since he was appointed in 2001. Shearer is also a 2005 graduate of the Police Executive Leadership Academy. Additionally, he has served as the Public Safety Director for the City of Ligonier since 2012. Currently, Bryan Shearer and his wife, Jamie, reside in Ligonier, Indiana with their two daughters, Paige and Morgan.
Joining Shearer as new appointees on the Law Enforcement Training Board through April 2018 are Mayor Mark Myers, Russ McQuaid, Kevin Roach, Chad Lewis, Kenneth Witkowski, David Gilbert, Earl Penrod, Ronald Leach and David Lasco.
