Limagrain Cereal Seeds Adds Four to North American staff
Fort Collins, Colorado (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- Limagrain Cereal Seeds (LCS) has added two additional staff to the North American headquarters in Fort Collins, Colorado, an assistant in Dr. Don Obert’s Genesis Research station in Battleground Indiana, and a familiar face to Dr. Marla Barnett’s Trio Research station in Wichita, Kansas.
Jack Mangels has worked at LCS headquarters part-time since September, 2012 and was recently brought on full time as a Research Assistant to oversee Seed Purification and Quality and to supervise temporary laborers. Mangels has lab experience in the Colorado State University (CSU) Insectary and a BS in Fisheries Biology from CSU.
Sarah Dominick interned for two years at LCS headquarters and was hired permanently effective July 1. Sarah will assist in Sales and Marketing and help Finance Manager Kelly Mundorff in accounting. Sarah graduated with a BS from CSU in Crops and Soil Sciences and Agricultural Economics. She worked in breeding and organic fertilizer research while at the university.
“There is something truly welcoming about Limagrain Cereal Seeds and the people who work here. I like the work and I enjoy the open relationships we have with customers and other Limagrain companies,” Dominick said.
Tracy Beall has joined Dr. Don Obert in the Genesis Research station near Lafayette, Indiana. She worked part-time for LCS since May 2012. Now she oversees the greenhouse, selection markers, scab nursery and the increases at the station.
Beall graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Botany and Plant Pathology. She worked summers for Sam Brown at Genesis Seed before graduating.
“I’m most excited to be responsible for the beginning and the end of tested lines as well as the line response to disease … I consider these the most important parts of the program,” Beall said.
Dean Wilson, son of the late Dr. Jim Wilson who developed the Trio lines in Kansas, is a familiar face as he has been contracted with LCS since 2010. Dean will work from the Trio Research station in Wichita with Dr. Marla Barnett.
Dean has an MA in Education, CFA and FRM certifications and was working as a technical assistant at Trio before Limagrain’s acquisition. As Jim Wilson’s youngest son, Dean grew up at the station.
“Wheat is in my genes,” Wilson said. His primary role will be to support Dr. Barnett’s efforts to build LCS’ Hard Red Winter wheat program in the Central Plains.
Group Limagrain was founded in France in 1942. The farmer-owned company has 7,000 employees and is the largest seed company in the European Union. Fort Collins, Colorado serves as the North American headquarters of Limagrain Cereal Seeds, the newest subsidiary of Group Limagrain. LCS has regional research stations in Washington, Indiana, Minnesota and Kansas.
