Lincoln Memorial University receives SACS approval for Master of Public Administration degree program
Harrogate, Tennessee (PRWEB) June 27, 2015 -- The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) has granted Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) approval to deliver a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree program beginning in fall at the LMU-Duncan School of Law (601 W. Summit Hill Dr.) in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee.
The 36-39 credit hour program is designed for students interested in developing managerial skills necessary for leadership positions in both the public and private sectors to create and implement public policy. The program includes courses that cover law, public administration and budgeting to provide an education based in theory as well as real-world insight and training on how governments, non-profits and industry operate. The program can be completed in as little as 18 months.
Housed in the Paul V. Hamilton School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, LMU’s MPA program will offer three tracks – general public administration, conflict management and government relations and advocacy. Aimed at providing an advanced degree option for students looking for increased opportunities for employment in government, non-profits or large organizations such as colleges and universities and health care organizations, the program is designed for working professionals with both online and seated course work. Seated courses will be offered in the evening.

The MPA program is the second graduate-level program in the Paul V. Hamilton School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and is a part of LMU’s Institute for Collaborative Leadership. The Institute was established to provide an experiential education emphasizing the importance of developing organizational leaders in public and private sector organizations, consistent with the values and mission of the university. A particular emphasis of the Institute is the application of conflict management and dispute resolution skills in the practice of collaborative leadership.
