Lincoln Military Housing Raises Money for Local Armed Services and Veterans Groups
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 14, 2016 -- On Saturday, July 9th Lincoln Military Housing hosted the 7th Annual “Cause We Can 5K Run / Walk.” The charity event raised more than $1,500 for military organizations, including Operation Homefront, The USO San Diego, The Boot Campaign, and the Challenged Athletes Foundation: Operation Rebound.
“Lincoln Military Housing is proud of our commitment to support military families in every community we serve. It is an honor for our San Diego team to host this event both to bring together our local military family community and to raise funds for causes close to all our hearts,” said Cindy Farless, Community Services Director at Lincoln Military Housing.
The mission of the race is to give military families the opportunity to give back to the San Diego community. Families were invited to meet the military organizations that support them throughout the year and learn how they can help support the organizations and other families…Cause We Can! This special event was a private race for military families who live in Lincoln Military Housing. The “racers” were treated to the 5K Run / Walk race course, a swag bag, a medal for completing the race, music throughout the event, and breakfast after the race. Lincoln’s Stroller Strides group also kicked off the event with a fun warm-up. 552 runners / walkers participated in the 2016 event.
Local military organizations joined the event and set up booths full of information and resources. Military families were encouraged to bring money to purchase door prize tickets and race t-shirts with 100% of the proceeds going to the 2016 beneficiary organizations. Each organization was presented with a check for over $1600 at this year’s race.
