Lincolnshire Marriott Resort Celebrates 40 Years in Chicago’s North Shore
Lincolnshire, IL (PRWEB) January 27, 2015 -- With local roots that run deep, the http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/chiln-lincolnshire-marriott-resort/ Lincolnshire Marriott Resort has cultivated its guest experience over the span of four decades. In 2015, the resort celebrates its 40th anniversary in Chicago’s North Shore with special offers, contests and events on offer throughout the year to commemorate the once-in-a-lifetime occasion.
Since opening in 1975, the iconic hotel has operated as a proud member of the Marriott brand for 40 years, with recent renovations to its guest rooms, ballrooms and public spaces making the North Shore property modern and fresh. General Manager Kristin Duncan grew up in Lincolnshire and remembers those first moments stepping through the doors of the resort in the 70’s with her family. She takes special pride in the hotel’s place in the local community and brings a warmth to the role that extends to all corners of the property.
Throughout 2015, the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort will be announcing special offers, contests and sweepstakes via https://www.facebook.com/LincolnshireMarriott Facebook , https://twitter.com/LShireMarriott Twitter and Instagram. They will also be holding internal celebrations to recognize charter employees, celebrate with hosts and engage the local community.
The resort’s history is both iconic and memorable. Just before its official opening in April of 1975, during the VIP Dinner and Theatre performance with J.W. Marriott Jr., a 450-lb lion named Zamba escaped from its trainer and went lumbering out of the opening ceremony. The lion ran down the ballroom corridor, breaking a pane of glass before finally being caught by its trainer.
Initially, the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort was conceived through Bill Marriott’s desire to open a Midwest resort that offered not only excellent lodging and meeting services, but also the recreation amenities a resort extends to families and business travelers. Once built, the property became the first Midwestern Marriott resort of its kind, originally offering an outdoor ice rink, theatre, dining and ski hill with downhill and cross-country skiing. It has since proven to be a Marriott on the move, keeping things fresh and contemporary throughout the course of its four decade lifespan.
