(PRWEB) March 31, 2016 -- Linn Foster Freedman, chair of Robinson+Cole’s Data Privacy + Security Team, has joined the faculty of Brown University’s new Executive Master in Cybersecurity (EMCS) as adjunct professor of the practice, computer science. The 16-month graduate program that starts this fall uses practical, hands-on experience to produce visionary leaders who understand the technology, human, and policy issues that are key to an effective cybersecurity strategy.
“As a leading lawyer in cybersecurity, Linn Freedman brings extensive experience counseling global corporations to protect their brands, assets, and clients in the face of growing data breaches and complex legal environments,” said Roberto Tamassia, executive director of the EMCS program. “Her insights will inform the practical scenarios we use in the program and impart real-world knowledge as the students learn robust methodologies and develop comprehensive strategies for defending against current and future cyber threats. Linn’s contributions will advance our mission to cultivate cybersecurity leaders who are ready to address technology, policy, and human challenges. We are excited to have her on the faculty.”
Ms. Freedman focuses her practice at Robinson+Cole on compliance with all state and federal privacy and security laws and regulations, as well as on emergency data breach response and mitigation. She counsels clients on state and federal data privacy and security investigations, litigation, and data breaches. Ms. Freedman works with companies and organizations to adopt a risk management approach to precisely frame the purpose and means for the collection, maintenance, and transfer of high-risk data throughout their organization. She advises them on how to identify high-risk data—both paper and electronic—and to implement measures to protect it, helping them develop defensible, and reasonable, approaches to comply with constantly evolving regulatory requirements and the risk of a data breach. She also is the lead author and editor of the blog Data Privacy + Security Insider.
“Cybersecurity concerns only continue to grow in today’s connected world, and it can be a struggle for businesses to keep abreast of the constantly changing threats and technology. I’m excited that Brown has created this new program focused on preparing business leaders to be nimble in this complex arena and honored to be a part of the faculty,” said Ms. Freedman.
