List of Things to Do on Long Beach Island
Ocean and Monmouth Counties, New Jersey (PRWEB) July 06, 2015 -- Preferred Limousine & Car Service (http://www.preferredlimo.net) released today their annual list of things to do while visiting Long Beach Island.
Preferred Limousine & Car Service is a local limo service company offering convenient, affordable and stress free travel services on the Island and all surrounding areas with fares similar, if not less, than most taxi or car services. As a local company, Preferred Limo would like to share some ideas they think visitors may enjoy while here on LBI.
For Beach Lovers
Long Beach Island is of course known for its beautiful beaches. LBI is the perfect destination to swim and ride the waves or just relax and work on your tan. And here’s a tip… the most crowded beach area on LBI is typically found at Holyoke Avenue in Beach Haven but a little farther to the Island’s southern tip are great waves and far fewer people.
For families with kids, try any of the beaches in Beach Haven or Ship Bottom. The beaches there are very long, clean and offer easy access to restrooms, food and water.
Surfin’ Safari
Two beach areas stand out for excellent surfing in LBI. Wooden Jetty in Holgate and Ship Bottom right around 28th Street. Wooden Jetty hosts an annual surfing competition and is one of the best surfing beaches on the Island because the long jetty promotes good rise to the waves allowing for longer runs. Ship Bottom is excellent because surfers can surf anywhere outside of the flags which means more ocean and greater distance between the surfers and also swimmers. The lifeguards at Ship Bottom are also very “surf-friendly”.
For the Young (and young at heart) – and it’s not just miniature golf.
Fantasy Island Amusement Park in Beach Haven (http://www.fantasyislandpark.com/) is a must-visit destination while on LBI. The 25 year old Victorian themed amusement park offers rides and games for all ages and the Arcade at Fantasy Island is a great rainy day diversion.
For water park lovers, visit Thundering Surf Water Park in Beach Haven (http://www.thunderingsurfwaterpark.com/). The park is perfect for all ages and includes six water slides, a “Lazy Crazy” river, a Flowrider and a “spray” ground for toddlers.
And don’t forget the Black Pearl Pirate Tours in Beach Haven (http://www.piratesoflbi.com/). The tour is a one hour interactive family adventure. Children get their faces painted and dressed up like pirates. Then it’s out to sea where the kids learn to talk, sing and play like real pirates before they battle Pirate Pete and fire fire high powered water cannons at their enemy.
History Buff Heaven
LBI is a wonderful place to discover the history that only the Jersey Shore can offer. Some activities for history buffs include:
Visit Barney. Who’s Barney? Barney is what locals call the Barnegat Lighthouse which is an icon of the Jersey Shore and one of the most photographed structures in New Jersey. Climb the 217 steps to the top and enjoy amazing views of the Shore.
Take a guided walking tour through Victorian Beach Haven and learn about the gilded age of LBI. Offered by Long Beach Island Museum in Beach Haven (http://lbimuseum.com).
Visit the Museum of NJ Maritime History (http://njmaritimemuseum.org) in Beach Haven. It’s a great place to explore the most extensive collection of maritime history and artifacts in New Jersey and learn about different ship wrecks and maritime disasters.
Where’s the Party? (aka LBI Nightlife)
When you’re ready to make the transition from the beach to the bar, try out these top five picks:
• Daddy O in Brant Beach
• Joe Pop’s in Ship Bottom
• Nardi’s Tavern & Grille in Beach Haven
• Terrace Tavern in Beach Haven
• The Gateway Lounge in Ship Bottom
LBI is one of the best summer destinations there is. Use the above ideas to make memories with your family and friends that will last a lifetime.
