Living Heart Foundation (LHF) and Screening Team Associate Pro Player Health Alliance Launch LHF HOPE Super Bowl Symposium Program December 5th In Long Island, New York
Long Island, New York (PRWEB) November 23, 2013 -- December 5, 2013 at 5:00 PM will mark the beginning of The Living Heart Foundation's (LHF) HOPE Super Bowl Program and feature special screenings for retired players in Long Island, New York. Dr. Archie Roberts founded LHF 10 years ago, as a nationally functioning, multi-institutional, 501 (c) (3) public charity with IRB support, while dedicated to health education, screening, database creation, outcomes reporting and wellness program development. David Gergen, Executive Director of Pro Player Health Alliance (PPHA), who has been working closely with Dr. Roberts to improve former player health over the past year, will oversee the sleep apnea screening for the event. PPHA is a medically directed program headed by Dr. Rudi Ferrate, MD, of the American Sleep and Breathing Academy.
At the screening will be the likes of Super Bowl Champion former Giants Lineman Bart Oates, Super Bowl Champion and NFL Hall of Fame nominee former Giants Running Back OJ Anderson, Former Jets QB and NFL MVP Boomer Esiason, NFL Hall of Fame nominee and All-Pro former Jets Kicker Nick Lowery, All-Pro WR Roy Green and Super Bowl Champion Lineman Derek Kennard among several other players.
Dr. Roberts has confirmed the event will include dental exams by Dr. Neal Seltzer and Dr. Jeffrey Rein, blood pressure, lung age, body composition, ECG, cardiovascular risk detecting blood tests and obstructive sleep apnea screenings. The Apnea Risk Evaluation System by Watermark (ARES home sleep test unit) will be the sleep apnea screening unit used when medically indicated. In addition, this screening will be the first of a series of planned LHF HOPE Super Bowl Symposium programs around the country over the next few months.

About David Gergen
David Gergen, CDT and Executive Director of Pro Player Health Alliance, has been a nationally respected dental lab technician for over 25 years. He received the award for "The Finest Orthodontic Technician in the Country" given by Columbus Dental in 1986. He also has been appointed chair of the dental wing of the American Sleep and Breathing Academy a national interdisciplinary academy dedicated to sleep training and education with over 60,000 members. He has worked for some of the pioneers in the orthodontic and sleep dentistry fields. One of his proudest achievements is receiving The National Leadership award for Arizona Small Businessman of the Year in 2004.
