LNS Court Reporting and Captioning Founders To Be Inducted into Fellows of the Academy of Professional Reporters
Portland, OR (PRWEB) July 29, 2015 -- The founders of LNS Court Reporting and Captioning have been named members of the National Court Reporters Association’s (NCRA) 2015 class of Fellows of the Academy of Professional Reporters. Carol Studenmund and Robin Nodland will be recognized at the NCRA Annual Convention in New York City on Saturday, August 1st. Fellowship in the Academy is “a professional distinction conferred upon a person of outstanding and extraordinary qualifications and experience in the field of shorthand reporting.”
Studenmund said, “We are honored to receive such an important recognition and to be included among such a respectable and prestigious group of court reporting professionals.” Both Studenmund and Nodland have years of experience working with NCRA. In addition to the committees they work with and the chairs they hold, they both have received several other recognitions and certifications.
Nodland is co-chair of NCRA’s Technology Committee. She holds several certificates including the Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR), and is the only credentialed Realtime System Administrator (RSA) in Oregon. Nodland has competed in NCRA’s Realtime Contest several times, placing fourth place overall and also earning a bronze medal. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Oregon Court Reporters Association as well as chaired several committees, and she is currently Past President and chair of the Public Relations Committee. Nodland is also on the Certified Shorthand Reporter Advisory Committee, serving at the pleasure of the Oregon State Court Administrator. She has been a presenter at NCRA and OCRA conventions, and has published articles in NCRA’s Journal of Court Reporting, OCRA’s In Brief, and the Oregon State Bar’s Bulletin.
Studenmund serves as the chair of the Mount Hood Cable Regulatory Commission and the NCRA FCC Caption Quality Subcommittee. She is a Past President and current legislative Chair of the Oregon Court Reporters Association (OCRA), she and has served as the Chief Examiner of the Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR) exam in Oregon for the last 20 years. Studenmund is also on the board of Portland Community Media and is a member of the NCRA Broadcast and CART Captioning Committee. She holds several certificates, including the Certified Realtime Captioner (CRC) and the Oregon Award of Excellence. Studenmund has been a presenter at NCRA and OCRA conventions, and she has published articles in NCRA’s Journal of Court Reporting and OCRA’s In Brief. In her work on the FCC subcommittee, Studenmund co-wrote the Best Practices document presented to the FCC by NCRA. This paper became the groundwork for the FCC’s Best Practices for Captioning rules, which were implemented on March 15, 2015.
For both Studenmund and Nodland, attaining the Fellowship is an esteemed recognition of their dedication to accuracy, quality, good ethics, and their community-minded business practices.
