Local Bakery Wins QVC Customer Food Choice Awards

Strawberry Hill Povitica of Merriam Tops Prestigious Competition
Strawberry Hill Povitica won the QVC Customer Choice Food Award for Best Breakfast Food. The award show was broadcast live to 98 million homes, Sept. 10, 2014.
“Every year QVC asks their customers to vote for their favorite products,” says Marc O’Leary, co-owner and executive director of Strawberry Hill Povitica. “We were nominated last year, but didn’t win. This year we came out on top.”
O’Leary was on hand to accept the award at QVC’s West Chester, Pa., facility. He also presented his company’s baked goods to the live studio audience and viewers at home. The program was broadcast live from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. in Kansas City.
“The highlight for me was to teach a live studio audience how to phonetically say povitica,” says O’Leary. “That was a blast!”
Strawberry Hill Povitica began selling their freshly baked povitica on QVC in 2013. “We’re now on the air about 20 times a year,” O’Leary says. “You’ll find us on QVC at least once a month.” Of course, local residents can get their povitica by dropping by the bakery located at 7226 W Frontage Road in Merriam.
