Local Environmental Contractor Helps Cleanup “Fish Kill” On Peconic River
Riverhead, NY (PRWEB) June 18, 2015 -- As the second large fish kill in two weeks has occurred in parts of the Peconic River, Go Green Environmental Services, LLC, a Middle Island-based environmental contractor, has joined the cleanup mission.
"We live, work, and play on Long Island so helping to clean-up the fishkill was important to us; our kids kayak here and our families camp at Indian Island. The water here on Long Island is an incredibly precious resource and we want to help do our part to keep it clean,” said Erin Hunt, CEO of Go Green Environmental Services.
The company uses state-of-the-art technology to perform environmental and wastewater services for Long Island businesses and homes. Its high powered vacuums, usually used for sludge, sewer line cleanings, and wastewater removal, are now being used to remove the dead fish.
“Working in coordination with local fishermen our technicians used a Vactor truck to remove the dead bunker from the Peconic River. Two boats used a surface draft net to corral the dead bunker towards our equipment. We then unloaded them into Town of Riverhead heavy equipment for disposal,” said Terence Daly, Vice President.
