Local Filmmakers Unite with Myers Park Presbyterian Church to Tell the Story of Hungarian Refugees
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (PRWEB) December 24, 2015 -- While many will enjoy a relaxing New Year’s Day at home with family, an award-winning crew from Mission Film Works will travel from Charlotte, N.C. to Hungary on Jan. 1, 2016 with one goal – to film a documentary chronicling the current and disturbing refugee situation in Hungary.
“After a conversation with the church’s outreach minister, our team felt called to begin this project, ‘An Act of Trust’. As we learned more about the dire situation, we knew standing idly by was not an option while women and children continued to suffer,” said Kim Brattain, creative director for Mission Film Works. “We are blessed to have the opportunity to tell the stories of these refugees through video - we see ourselves as storytellers with a unique gift which allows us to spread the message of those in need.”
“We’re in the midst of the Christmas season and Jesus was a refugee – he had to flee his own country to be protected,” said Rev. Derek Macleod, associate pastor for outreach at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. “We also recognize that through this outreach project, we can play an integral role in raising awareness and ultimately inspire change in a positive way.”
The Mission Film Works crew will be in Hungary for one week while filming and expects to premiere the documentary in Spring 2016. To lend your support through a monetary donation, please visit their campaign page at Genersity.com.
