Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) July 31, 2015 -- Cumberland Academy of Georgia, an Atlanta school for autism, recently received 20 Dell laptop computers for students to use during the new school year. The donation came from the school’s longstanding partner, the Sentry Insurance Foundation, a charitable division of Sentry Insurance. The foundation contributes to schools throughout the country as part of their mission to support local communities. Since 2010, Sentry has been donating regularly to Cumberland. “It’s our goal to always provide our students with innovative technology,” states Debbi Scarborough, founding director of Cumberland Academy of Georgia. “The donation of these laptops will help increase student engagement and make learning more entertaining.”
The academic and social curriculum at Cumberland provides a supportive and nurturing environment for students, helping them overcome their unique challenges. Children with autism often struggle to identify social cues from their peers and speak publicly, which can hinder both educational and social development. Utilizing assistive technology in the classroom helps bridge these gaps, allowing students to gain confidence and realize their own potential.
“We are grateful for the support we’ve received over the years from Sentry,” says Scarborough. “We are ready for the new school year to begin and can’t wait to see how these laptops will impact student learning.”
