Local Miracle-Ear Franchisee Purchases Erik Wahl Painting for $21,000
Camp Hill, PA (PRWEB) June 30, 2014 -- Julie Beall-McKelvey, Miracle-Ear franchise owner from Camp Hill, PA, attended the Miracle-Ear annual convention in Dallas, TX last week. The convention consisted of workshops, keynote speakers, and networking events; most notably closing Saturday night with a record breaking auction.
In partnership with the Miracle-Ear Foundation, a Minneapolis based non-profit, the second annual Miracle-Ear Foundation Auction was held to raise funds for underprivileged Americans with hearing loss. Items were donated from Miracle-Ear preferred vendors, franchisees, staff, and from world renowned speaker and graffiti artist, Erik Wahl. After a thought provoking and innovative keynote session, three of the paintings Erik created on stage were donated to the auction.
The paintings, along with other generous donations were the highlight of the live auction, but the last item up for bid was the most exciting: Erik Wahl’s Statue of Liberty painting. Two individuals went back and forth outbidding one another until Julie was the final donor, purchasing it for $21,000.
“The paintings Erik Wahl donated to the Miracle-Ear Foundation were remarkable,” said Beall-McKelvey. “But most importantly was my ability to bid for an item where proceeds are donated to such a great cause. The Miracle-Ear Foundation supports under served Americans with hearing loss in all communities, including those in need right here in Pennsylvania.”
Julie’s family has been part of Miracle-Ear for 46 years. In 1968 her father started the business with a small office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He went on to sign the very first Miracle-Ear franchise agreement in the country and he helped found what is today one of the most well-known and trusted hearing healthcare companies in the world – Miracle-Ear. In 1993 Julie joined the business as a hearing consultant and now owns and operates 34 Miracle-Ear offices across the state of Pennsylvania.
The Miracle-Ear Foundation Auction rose over $100,000, which is a 123% increase from 2013. All proceeds will go towards providing hearing aids free of cost to underprivileged adults and children across the country, as well as, help spread awareness about the importance of hearing loss conservation.
