Local Residents Obtain Amusement Arcade Permit from City of Richardson to Open Retro Arcade
Richardson, Tex. (PRWEB) July 16, 2015 -- The principals of Free Play Incorporated, Corey Shane Hyden and Richard Tregilgas have received the first Amusement Arcade permit to be issued by the City of Richardson in more than a decade. Free Play Incorporated plans to open a “retro arcade” featuring more than seventy arcade games largely from the 1980s, including famous titles such as Ms. Pac Man, Defender, and Tempest, in the Richardson East Shopping Center this coming Fall. As a unique twist to the "retro arcade" concept, every game at the Free Play Arcade, as suggested by its name, will be set to "free play" mode and patrons will pay a single entry price for unlimited play on every game in the arcade.
Free Play Incorporated will now begin to remodel and build-out its location at 1730 East Belt Line Road, Richardson, TX 75081, a process that will take two-to-three months. Once finished, in addition to more than seventy retro arcade games, the “Free Play Arcade” will feature a dining area with a variety food and beverage options, including a large selection of local and regional craft beers.
“This will be a huge draw for young professionals and video game fans from all over the area,” said Corey Hyden, President of Free Play Incorporated. “Nothing like this exists in DFW and, for most of the games that will be on our floor, you would have to drive hundreds of miles to find them at another arcade. It will be nostalgia overload."
The principals of Free Play Incorporated are long-time residents of Richardson, TX, having each graduated from Richardson high schools. “It was extremely important to us that we open this retro arcade in Richardson, TX,” said Hyden. “The recent boom in young professionals calling Richardson home, along with our strong roots here, made Richardson the obvious choice.”
