Local Veterans Start Company Teaching Civilians Life-Saving Techniques & Security Tactics
Palm City, FL (PRWEB) November 09, 2014 -- What would you do if a loved one suffered a major injury like a broken bone or is bleeding profusely while waiting for help to arrive? D-Dey Response Group, a local woman and veteran owned company recently opened its doors to empower and prepare citizens and professionals with life-saving techniques, security tactics and tailored first response medical kits for situations just like this.
“My team and I founded D-Dey Response Group in response to friends in the marine industry asking us for training after a serious medical injury occurred on a trip to the Bahamas. Boat captains and owners in general have minimal training to deal with disasters," explained Cecilia Deyo, military veteran, president and owner of D-Dey Response Group.
“In addition, with the United States experiencing quite a few 'war-like' situations, we felt that civilians could benefit and utilize the training we provide. You never know when you will need to implement the valuable skills that our team can teach. They very well could save your life and the lives of others.”
D-Dey Response Group is comprised of six veterans with various years of experience that provide essential life-saving training to individuals, groups, and professionals throughout the United States. The six-person team includes Donald Deyo, an Army SF. Medic, Weapons and Team Leader with 26-years of experience; Tom Collins, Army SF. Medic and Physician Assistant whose military term is still active; Alex Marco, Army SF. Medic with 26-years of experience; Nick Piscitello, Army SF. Security with 20-years of experience; Dr. Roy Bassett, Army National Guard State Surgeon and Medical Director for D-Dey who has 30-years of experience; and, Cecilia Deyo, a US Navy veteran in Communications with eight years of experience.
“Anyone can be a victim of a disaster at any time,” said Deyo. “When a person can bleed out in two to three minutes, and the average response time by a law enforcement officer is nine minutes (FBI statistic), there is an obvious need for emergency medical skills. D-Dey can teach those skills and create a custom first response kit to address these high-stress situations.”
D-Dey Response Group offers a variety of training courses including Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), Law Enforcement and First Responder (LE/FR), Emergency Life Saver-Advanced (ELS-A), and Emergency Life Saver-Basic (ELS-B). Pricing varies per course.
TCCC is for government agencies and military operators. Participants must provide proper identification.
LE/FR is a course specifically designed for police officers and fire rescue professionals. Participants must produce proper identification to partake in this course.
ELS-A is an eight-hour course, written by D-Dey for civilians with no prior experience. The ELS-B is an abbreviated four-hour course teaching basic life-saving skills and is perfect for those with a busy schedule.
“Having a first aid kit is great for trivial injuries like paper cuts, and they usually contain different sized Band-Aids and various forms of gauze,” stated Deyo. “Our custom first response kits address life-threating emergency injuries including broken bones, major bleeding, hypothermia and shock. We use products tested in the battlefield by my team during their active duty deployments. Our kits go beyond the basics to provide you with the tools needed to address serious injuries.”
D-Dey Response Group offers two types of first response medical kits – an Emergency Medical Situation (EMS) Kit and an Individual First-Aid Kit (IFAK). Custom first response medical kits range in price from $100 to $5,000 with or without training.
EMS kits are designed to include everything needed to survive an accident or incident in an austere environment until professional medical treatment is attainable. They are ideal for marine use, ranch or resort homes, camping, RV excursions, medical outposts, schools, stadiums, large event treatment facilities, the home and more! Kits come packaged in three different sizes, water tight, and crush proof, high visibility orange Pelican EMS carrying cases.
IFAKs are designed to be worn by individuals who will find themselves in extreme situations where medical services are not immediately available. This is ideal for students and education staff, adventure racers, hunters, firearms instructors, parents, police officers and more.
“D-Dey is here to teach members of the community and professionals life-saving skills and provide the tools necessary to deal with serious injuries,” explained Deyo of her company. “We want parents to know what to do if a child breaks a bone, or a person is seriously injured on a boat trip. You never know when you will be called upon to use the skills you will learn at a D-Dey course. You could be the reason that someone lives to see tomorrow.”
