Location-based Mobile Health App Launches in Washington
Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 03, 2015 -- Last month MedNav, a location-based mobile health app, launched its integrated platform that bridges the gap between patients and providers with real-time availability information and access to healthcare providers in a user’s area. The app allows patients to view live wait times, review verified ratings and schedule appointments, while eliminating excess capacity and increasing patient satisfaction for providers.
MedNav's patent-pending design allows consumers to find healthcare providers – including hospitals, urgent-care facilities, retail clinics, and diagnostic lab services – in their area, compare wait times and traffic-transit times, read verified user reviews and book appointments. MedNav’s advanced search capabilities also allow users to search for doctors by insurance type or by the time and date of their desired appointment. Additionally, MedNav users can complete insurance information online and sign up for notification reminders.
“Combining MedNav’s powerful search and scheduling tool with ease-of-use and real-time information meets patient demand for both simplicity and flexibility,” said Waleed Qamar, Co-Founder and CEO of MedNav. “Improving patients’ overall care experience and reducing their wait times leads to increased patient satisfaction.”
Patients aren’t the only beneficiaries. For providers, MedNav offers a patient recruitment and marketing tool, which enables providers to fill open appointments, attract new patients and streamline the intake process by synchronizing scheduling software with MedNav’s secure, web-based platform.
“Early on, during our research process, we repeatedly heard from physicians that time was their most valuable commodity,” said Qamar. “By saving those doctors time, through a more efficient scheduling process and by providing a tool to help them market their practice, there is an immediate and measurable ROI.”
The start-up has come a long way in the past few months, and is already making headlines in the Washington, D.C. area. MedNav won third place at the International University Innovation Alliance’s start-up competition. Over 100 individuals attended the IUIA forum at the University of Maryland, including Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, Dr. Donald R. Riley, the former VP of the University of Maryland, and Dr. Wansong Sun, Deputy Director from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, among others.
