Location Lock Begins Selling PTOs, Trains Customers How to Monitor Fuel Usage, and Then Some
San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) July 26, 2013 -- Authorized Trimble dealer Location Lock, LLC recently closed a sale with Power Take-Offs (PTO) to a customer and in the process realized information required for customers to file for possible fuel tax refunds is provided in a standard Trimble report. While some Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking companies provide basic information like PTO engage/disengage, Trimble takes reporting to a whole new level. Location Lock is working with Trimble to provide the information required for claiming a fuel tax refund in Texas.
“Monitoring PTOs is more than monitoring switches as engaged or disengaged,” Stephen Conroy, Location Lock CEO, stated. “A good GPS tracking system should also indicate how much fuel is consumed during the time the PTO is engaged.” As Conroy continued, “Tracking the amount of gallons used when PTOs are active is one of the requirements needed to claim the Texas Fuel Tax Refund.” The power in Trimble’s Vehicle Diagnostics is in the reports. Specifically, Trimble monitors and reports PTO activity, duration, and PTO fuel used. It’s this detailed information Texas requires for issuing fuel tax refunds. Texas Administrative Code 34, Rule §3.432, requires persons seeking this refund maintain records that must include miles driven, gallons used, and gallons used by the PTO. At a time when fleet owners are working hard to reduce their operating expenses, this is one effective way to recover the cost of doing business.
While fleets monitoring PTOs can use a fuel tax refund, Location Lock also customizes plans for each customer to operate their fleets more efficiently and be proactive in scheduling maintenance before issues arrive. Much of the information provided by Location Lock focuses on vehicle diagnostics. While vehicle diagnostics include almost anything that is stored on a vehicle’s Engine Control Unit (ECU), typical reports include driving mileage, trip time, and idling time. The ECU also stores the fuel consumption while driving, idling, and when a PTO is engaged. All of these items are located on one report. Conroy concludes, “Anytime we can supply our customers with accurate, operating information, it’s an opportunity for them to increase their bottom line.”
As fleet owners and managers continue to search for ways to reduce their costs and increase their margins, they will continue to evaluate their GPS solutions and will demand more from their provider. Location Lock and Trimble continue to lead the industry with innovative and cutting-edge technologies.
