Lock Haven University Student Housing Project Surpasses Expectations
Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) July 01, 2013 -- Capstone Development Partners ("Capstone"), Lock Haven University (“LHU”), and Lock Haven University Foundation (“LHUF”) proudly announces the new student housing project, Fairview Suites, has been awarded LEED® Silver certification by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
Capstone was awarded the project through a competitive bid process in November 2010 and delivered the 688-bed freshman and sophomore product to the University and Foundation in August 2012. The project, Fairview Suites, was only required to achieve the minimal LEED® certification. However, with careful consideration and selection of building systems and materials by the University and Developer teams, the project was awarded LEED® Silver certification. “We are pleased to be a part of the Lock Haven University Fairview Suites team and are delighted that the project has surpassed expectations by achieving LEED Silver certification. Capstone is proud to focus on environmental responsibility and we are honored to work with schools that have similar priorities. In addition to Fairview Suites receiving LEED® Silver certification, the project and foundation were awarded a PPL grant. The PPL grant reimburses LHU and Capstone for administrative fees incurred when registering and applying the project for LEED® certification.
To achieve LEED® Silver certification Capstone and the team developed Fairview Suites with careful consideration and selection of environment-friendly features such as the installation of rain gardens, the purchase of building materials from local Pennsylvania suppliers and manufactures, and equipping every suite with individual temperature control thermostats.
