LockeyUSA Makes Pool Safety a Priority - Announced as Pool Safely Campaign Safety Leader in December 2013
Mount Pleasant, Michigan (PRWEB) December 26, 2013 -- There are few things more important to a society than the safety of its children, and drowning continues to be a leading cause of death among children in the United States. More than 200 children drowned in pools and spas in the summer of 2013 (Pool Safely, September 5, 2013), a tragic tally that can be reduced significantly through awareness and education. LockeyUSA, a North American manufacturer of door and gate security products, is committed to promoting pool safety and drowning prevention efforts through partnerships with the nation's leading government and non-profit advocacy organizations.
In December 2013, LockeyUSA became a Pool Safely Campaign Safety Leader (CSL). Pool Safely is a public education campaign from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The campaign conveys a simple message: adding extra safety steps around the water can make all the difference. You can never know which safety measure will save a life — until it does. Pool Safely is a call-to-action for the public and the beginning of a national conversation to urge Americans to change the way they think and act about pool and spa safety.
Earlier in 2013, LockeyUSA joined the National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA), as a Corporate Member. The mission of the National Drowning Prevention Alliance is to prevent drowning and aquatic injuries, by educating, leading, engaging, and supporting the public, members, chapters, and partners. In March 2014, LockeyUSA will attend the NDPA's Annual Conference in Orlando, Fla to join the national conversation about pool safety and drowning prevention.
LockeyUSA manufactures door and gate security products including a variety of products that are ideal for creating safe and secure pool areas. Lockey keyless gate locks, hydraulic gate closers, gate latches and self-closing gate hinges meet and exceed the safety measures recommended by the CPSC and NDPA. While parental supervision and swimming education are the primary ways to prevent drowning, effective barriers and gates that are self-closing and locking, offer an important first line of defense.
LockeyUSA aims to engage its employees, community, and customers to promote pool safety and drowning prevention awareness and education, in an effort to see noticeable decreases in a leading, and preventable, cause of death among children in the United States.
