Long Island-Based Company, American Casting and Manufacturing, Remembers its Roots and Shares Future Plans

Security Seals manufacturer, American Casting and Manufacturing, shares their company history and reveals exciting directions for future growth.

American Casting and Manufacturing was born in 1910 as the brainchild of two teenage brothers, Henry L. C. Wenk Jr. and Norman B. Wenk.

"The original mission of the company was to meet the requirements of a growing construction economy in the early 20th century," President Norm Wenk explained. "The company expanded over the next several decades and added many diversified products including custom castings, lead head nails and bolts, metal seals and stampings; and more importantly, lead and wire security seals and seal press tools."

American Casting & Manufacturing's first products—lead washers and pattern letters—were cast and stamped at Pearl Street in Brooklyn, New York. Though, continued growth forced the brothers to relocate their company to a larger facility in Brooklyn five years later.

American Casting & Manufacturing was incorporated on January 12, 1916, and the newly incorporated company continued to operate in Brooklyn until 1961 when it moved to its current, and much larger facility, in Plainview, New York.

From their new location in Plainview, New York, second and third generation family members invested in additional machinery, tooling and engineering. As a result, they successfully created a larger product base, and a new mission evolved from their efforts.

"The new mission was to satisfy security and safety requirements for all industries including transportation, utilities, food and beverage processing, chemical and pharmaceutical processing, cash handling, oil and gas processing, and all local, state and federal government agencies requirements," said Wenk.

This new mission has proven beneficial. Under third and fourth generation ownership, American Casting & Manufacturing has now acquired smaller seals companies, developed an in-house research and design program, and made several advancements in engineering processes and patented seal technology.

"We are proud to have a loyal customer base representing all industries in both domestic and global markets. Our products today range from plastic and metal truck and padlock seals to bolt lock and self-locking adjustable cable locks to security tapes and labels," Wenk shared.

The future of American Casting and Manufacturing is exciting. The company plans to continue growing and expanding while serving the security industry. American Casting and Manufacturing, also known as seals.com by many of its customers, will continue to invest in employee staffing and training, security seals technology, safety, and research and development. The company plans to ensure leadership continuity in the security seal industry.

"Our goal is simply to continue to be the leaders in the security seal market place by offering the most technologically advanced security seals, superior service, excellent quality and unsurpassed delivery," said Wenk.
