Long Island Colleges and Universities, Congressman Bishop to Present Financial Aid Advice for Parents
Patchogue, N.Y. (PRWEB) January 28, 2014 -- The Long Island Regional Advisory Council on Higher Education (LIRACHE), in conjunction with Congressman Tim Bishop (D-Southampton), invites you to learn how to pay for your child’s college education at its seventh annual Financial Aid Information Seminar hosted by St. Joseph’s College (SJC) on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 6:30 p.m.
“The Long Island colleges and universities are finely attuned to the demands placed on students and families to finance college education,” said LIRACHE Chair and President of Farmingdale State College Dr. Hubert Keen. “The financial aid departments of the 18 LIRACHE institutions work actively to assure that information is available in various forms to prospective and currently enrolled students.”
The Financial Aid Information Seminar will include a keynote presentation by Rep. Tim Bishop, followed by a panel discussion including several financial aid professionals representing 18 colleges and universities from across Long Island. Topics will include applying for loans, common errors, early awareness, FAFSA and federal and state programs. A reception and a resource expo will conclude the evening.
“Higher education is a gateway to opportunity, but students and families need to be informed as they consider options for financing their investment in a college education,” said Rep. Tim Bishop. “This workshop will outline how to access education aid and loans, and how to be smart about debt. I thank St. Joseph’s College, LIRACHE and all of the participants in this important event for Long Island families.”
