Long Island Plastic Surgeon Samuel Baharestani, MD To Lecture On Eyelid Surgery For Nassau County Optometric Society
Smithtown, New York (PRWEB) November 11, 2014 -- One of Long Island’s leading oculofacial cosmetic eye surgeons, Samuel Baharestani, MD of North Shore Eye Care will discuss the latest advances in comprehensive eyelid surgery and treatment during the upcoming Nassau County Optometric Society meeting on November 11, 2014.
Dr. Baharestani is a Fellowship-trained, board-certified ophthalmic plastic surgeon who has returned to his native Long Island to serve the friends, family members and neighbors he grew up with across the island. He joined North Shore Eye Care earlier this year.
"I am excited to be presenting the most modern techniques in ophthalmic plastic surgery to my optometry colleagues on Long Island,” said Dr. Baharestani. “As a native of Nassau County, I look forward to providing quality care for the eyelid, orbit, and tear duct problems of my colleagues and neighbors close to home."
The title of Dr. Baharestani’s lecture is, ‘Involutional Eyelid Changes: Lesions, Ptosis, & Brow Ptosis.’ Dr. Baharestani will review benign and malignant growths on the eyelids and discuss the best treatment strategies for optometrist to follow when referring a patient for specialized treatment. He will also discuss one of the most common eyelid conditions prevalent among the aging population on Long Island: droopy, sagging eyelids.
"Droopy eyelids are quite common among seniors in our Long Island community, especially after cataract surgery,” Dr. Baharestani said. “Most patients don’t realize that depending on the severity of the condition, Medicare and most health insurance companies cover corrective eyelid surgery. Blepharoplasty, brow lifting, and small incision ptosis repair are some of the procedures we will discuss together to better take care of our patients."
