LOOP-LOC Shares Five Mistakes to Avoid with a New Inground Pool Liner
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Oct. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- LOOP-LOC, pool cover and inground pool liner company that services New Jersey, shares five mistakes to avoid with new inground pool liners.
Do not add too much chlorine. Using too much chlorine in your pool can cause it to not only fade, but result in liner damage. Take care to pre-dissolve pool shock in a container of water. Stir to mix it well. Then, walk around the edge of the pool to slowly pour it in. It is also important not to shock the pool too often. Four to six weeks works if you aren't experiencing any water issues.
Do not allow leaks to go undetected. Leaks that are not fixed as soon as they occur can result in the liner wrinkling or becoming damaged—especially if the water levels fall too low. This can cause stress to the liner, and possible rip or tear it the longer the levels stay too low.
Do not let the pH levels get too low. Pool water levels that fall below the neutral level of 7.0 can cause the water to become acidic, which can corrode the vinyl liner. As time goes on, these low levels can potentially fade the liner or cause it to become brittle. It's easy to avoid this mistake by testing the pH on a weekly basis and adjusting levels to keep in the ideal range of 7.2 to 7.6.
Do not allow wild animals to access the pool. It is perfectly acceptable to let your dog swim in the pool—provided he or she knows how to get out! However, wild animals with sharp claws could damage the liner if they get in.
Do not let kids with sharp objects in the pool. Most children will frolic in the pool with pool-appropriate tools and games, but watch out for those who want to have a fake sword fight or pole vaulting contest in the water. Sharp—or even hot objects like fireworks—and pool liners do not mix.
