Los Angeles Neuromuscular Dentist Announces New College Scholarship
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 21, 2014 -- Except for the occasional filling and twice-yearly cleanings, most young people probably don’t give the dentist much thought. But for Los Angeles-area students contemplating college, a little thought about the dentist could pay off in a $750 college scholarship.
Announced today, the Dream Big, Smile Big Dental Scholarship is offered by L.A. neuromuscular dentist Dr. Sid Solomon DDS. The scholarship is a $750 award that can be applied toward college expenses such as tuition, room and board, books, or other fees.
To apply for the scholarship, students must craft a 1,000- to 1,500-word essay that answers this question — Why do you think dentistry is relevant in today’s society?
To be eligible, students must be an incoming or current college freshman, sophomore, or junior in Dentistry or a Dentistry-related major. Applications will be accepted from now until January 13, 2015, with the scholarship money to be used in the 2015/16 school year. The Dream Big, Smile Big Dental Scholarship winner will be announced on January 27, 2015.
The essay will be the deciding criteria for the scholarship winner. A committee will judge the essays, basing its decision on insight, creativity, and authenticity. Entries can be submitted online at http://www.timetosmile.com/dr-solomon-scholarship/.
When asked why he has created this scholarship, Dr. Sid Solomon DDS compares it to his time in college. Dr. Solomon earned his undergraduate degree from UCLA and his doctorate from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. “My time in college changed my life,” he explains. “I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to pursue my dreams, dreams that required college training. Through this scholarship, I want to help young people pursue their dreams.”
Dr. Sid Solomon DDS is particularly known for his treatment of temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ). It is a vexing condition that can cause migraines, headaches, neck and shoulder pain, jaw pain, ringing in the ears, and other problems and is often misdiagnosed by doctors and dentists. That’s where his extensive experience with neuromuscular dentistry comes to the fore. Dr. Sid Solomon DDS has three offices in the L.A. area — the Center for Cosmetic, Implant & Neuromuscular Dentistry in West Los Angeles; Aesthetic Dental in Thousand Oaks; and Dental Wellness in West Hills, CA.
