Los Angeles Surgeon Made New Clinical Chief of Cedars Sinai’s Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery
Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) March 06, 2014 -- Liza Capiendo, MD, a colorectal and general surgeon with La Peer Health Systems, has been distinguished as the new Clinical Chief of the Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. This comes in addition to her position as a colorectal surgeon at Los Angeles Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates and La Peer Health Systems.

In addition to her position at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Capiendo also works with a number of Departments at La Peer Health Systems, an outpatient surgery center in Beverly Hills.

Dr. Capiendo is also an internationally acclaimed expert in colorectal surgery. In the past, she has been on multiple TV shows, including NBC 4 News, ABC 7 News, and the DailyNews.com. She has also presented at educational conferences and published original research. In addition to her work as a surgeon, Dr. Capiendo dedicates a portion of her time to volunteering. She does this with the Social Action Community Clinic as well as the Revlon Run/Walk for Breast Cancer. She also helps educate the public through the “Ask Your Doctor” Inland Empire radio show.
Dr. Liza M. Capiendo is a board-certified colorectal and general surgeon with medical expertise in the laparoscopic treatment of colorectal and pelvic floor disorders, with emphasis on women's colorectal health. After earning her medical degree at Loma Linda University, Dr. Capiendo went on to a six-year surgical residency at Martin Luther King/Drew Medical Center, where she received Surgical Resident of the Year three times, and followed with a fellowship in colorectal surgery at the University of Southern California (USC). Dr. Capiendo is now an attending and active member of the teaching faculty at Cedars Sinai Medical Center where she is also a surgeon with Los Angeles Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates.
