Los Defensores Attorney Members Announce $34.5 Million Jury Verdict
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 11, 2015 -- Last month Panish Shea & Boyle LLP working alongside Banafsheh, Danesh & Javid, P.C., attorney members of Los Defensores, announced a $34.5 million jury verdict for a truck crash that resulted in lower leg amputation. According to the court documents, the 19-year-old plaintiff was riding his bicycle in Los Angeles when he stopped on the sidewalk at the intersection of Tweedy Boulevard and Alameda Street. A tractor-trailer owned by Landstar attempted to make a right turn on the street, and instead drove the 55-foot-long trailer over the sidewalk, knocking the plaintiff to the ground, according to court documents. The rear wheels ran over his left leg causing a lower leg amputation.
According to court documents, despite efforts to place fault on the plaintiff, arguing that he was inattentive and should have avoided the trailer, Landstar admitted fault at the start of the trial. At trial, Landstar challenged the extent of the plaintiff’s damages and assessed them to be between $5-7 million. Well-represented however, the plaintiff was awarded $27.8 million for past and future pain and suffering, $5.9 million for past and future medical expenses and $738,639 for past and future loss of earnings.
