Lovemore Farai Mufute’s True Story Reflects the Power of Everlasting Love Above Everything Else

Parents will naturally have aspirations for their children, and children as they grow into adulthood will have their own aspirations. The two aspirations will not always be in harmony. What mostly happens is that parents’ aspirations usually prevail in the shaping of the child’s future out of respect and sometimes fear.
“Challenged Lovers” is a true story about the challenge that came to two young adults who fell in love with each other and decided to get married despite all the efforts exerted to separate them. Written by author Lovemore Farai Mufute, this story revolves around Danai and Fadzai, both first-born children whose expectations are extremely high and the extent of the challenge to their love relationship is legendary.
Danai’s parents clearly expressed their dislike for Fadzai as their daughter’s friend, lover and spouse. Fadzai believes that his relationship with Danai must have taken her parents by surprise although she was already nineteen years old when they met. Danai’s parents thought that their firstborn girl child was still very young for a love relationship and marriage. By the time they decided to come together as husband and wife in 1975, Danai is twenty going on twenty-one. Danai’s father in particular had certain aspirations for his daughter, and Fadzai did not fit into the picture he had in mind. But Fadzai has gone through hell with Danai and is prepared to overcome any challenge that comes along the way. He is ready to fight to the bitter end for what he believes in and what is good for his family.
“Challenged Lovers” reflects the central message that parents need to impart all they believe their offspring need to get during their formative years. As young adults, their children are frequently subjected to societal influences that may not be in line with what parents have in mind. Life lessons must be given but respect of the young mind is critical to maintain the balance in the relationship between parent and child. Danai and Fadzai’s love was subjected to unimaginable challenges, but what they have as a couple is stronger than any challenges that they can ever face.

About the Author
Lovemore Farai Mufute is a Zimbabwean, born in a mission hospital at Mutambara, eastern Zimbabwe. He went to school mostly in the city of Mutare and later in Harare and became an accountant. He also studied strategic management at Harvard University in Boston.
He married Ruth Chisina in 1975 and they have four children, Chido, Edward, Farai and Tinashe and they now have seven grand children.
After working for many years in the Zimbabwean Government in its very early years and the private sector for eleven years, he left to start his own management consulting and auto body companies in 1994 and currently employs over forty people.
He has been a member of the Lions Club of Marlborough in Harare, and was its president for two years. His interests are in general body fitness, reading, soccer and boxing.
