Low Charge Ammonia Expert Caleb Nelson to Present at ASHRAE Built Environment Conference
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) June 24, 2016 -- Providing delegates with a base understanding of the movement to natural refrigerants, Caleb will demonstrate how advances in low charge ammonia technology are making possible the use of ammonia in non-traditional settings. Discussing both the benefits and challenges for the long-term, cost effective use of low charge ammonia, his presentation will draw attention to real world case studies where the Azane range of air cooled chillers and condensing units have reported direct paybacks to customer’s business, including energy and carbon savings as well as reductions in ammonia charge of up to 96% compared to previous installations.
Caleb said, “With the R22 phase-down and the incumbent phase down of refrigerants with high global warming potential, refrigeration end-users are looking at alternative solutions to deliver economic and environmental savings for their business.”
“Ammonia has no global warming effect and is known for its excellent operating efficiencies over a wide range of applications. However, it also presents challenges associated with its use, primarily in terms of flammability (between 16% and 25 % volume in air) and toxicity (35ppm short term exposure limit).”
“This has led to the development of low charge solutions for ambient, chill and low temperature applications to make ammonia more accessible to users of synthetic refrigerants and to help existing ammonia users reduce their site inventory.”
“During the conference I am aiming to provide delegates with real world lessons learned via case studies so that others can effectively adopt ammonia. We have installed low-charge ammonia for the world’s most renowned organizations in the US and Europe for over 25 years and have a very interesting repertoire of case studies, which include details about the specific project constraints, and how low-charge ammonia systems were designed to fit within those constraints in an overall cost-effective manner.”
California-based Azane manufactures a range of pre-engineered and highly customizable low charge ammonia systems. The plug and play air cooled low charge ammonia chiller, the Azanechiller, and the air cooled condensing unit, Azanefreezer, offer exceptional efficiencies across a wide range of operation conditions and low life cycle costs over a minimum of 25 years. Both the Azanechiller and the Azanefreezer are suitable for HVAC, food processing and freezing, process cooling, public refrigerated warehouses, ice rinks and more. The factory built design makes them suitable for new installations and upgrade projects. They require no machinery room and can be located close to the cooling demand which makes the installation simpler and lower cost.
Taking place between 25-29 June in St. Louis, Missouri, the ASHRAE 2016 Annual Conference is a one of a kind event. With plenty of opportunities for networking, as well as multiple tours of St. Louis landmarks, the host committee is dedicated to ensuring delegates get the balance right between learning and social opportunities.
The natural refrigerant session is scheduled for Sunday, June 26th, from 1:30 to 3:00. Seminar 14.
