Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 19, 2017 -- One of Los Angeles’ most critically and popularly acclaimed restaurants selects apartment and retail property for only its third location
Lowe and J.P. Morgan Asset Management announced today that Father’s Office, a Los Angeles institution, will open at The Garey Bldg., a 320-unit apartment community in the burgeoning Arts District in downtown Los Angeles. The restaurant will have a prominent, 5,100-square-foot corner location with indoor and outdoor dining on The Garey’s pedestrian paseo, a wide tree-lined public space that spans a city block between 1st and 2nd Streets.
“Father’s Office has broad appeal with its casual atmosphere and American cuisine featuring its renowned office burger that regularly makes LA’s ‘best of’ lists. It’s an ideal fit for The Garey Bldg.’s ground floor restaurant and retail array that serves both our residents and the neighboring community,” said Tom Wulf, senior vice president, Lowe.
According to Chef Sang Yoon, this expansion of his Father's Office concept to downtown Los Angeles is scheduled to open in fall 2017. Yoon debuted Father's Office in 2000 when he took over the local dive bar in Santa Monica of the same name, creating the iconic "Office Burger" and venerable craft beer program, and trailblazed the gastropub movement across the US in the nearly two decades since. Father's Office Culver City opened in 2008 to continued critical and popular acclaim at the historic Helm's Bakery complex followed by an additional two restaurants, Lukshon (Culver City) and Two Birds One Stone (Napa Valley).
The Garey Bldg., located at 905 E. 2nd Street, is set on 2.9 acres east of Alameda Street between 1st and 2nd Streets. The property, developed by Lowe and institutional investors advised by J.P. Morgan Asset Management and opened in July 2016, features two five-story buildings flanking a 50-foot-wide pedestrian paseo that features 15,800 square feet of commercial space that will offer a variety of restaurants, cafes and retail establishments.
The Garey Bldg. brings bright, modern residences ranging from studios to two-bedrooms with ground floor live-work units steps from public transportation with the Metro Gold Line station and new regional connector station currently under construction at 1st and Alameda.
The Garey Bldg. was just awarded LEED Certification for its sustainable and environmentally sensitive development program.
Residences at The Garey Bldg. all feature large, operable windows and most offer either balconies or patios to take advantage of Southern California’s temperate climate that invites indoor/outdoor living. Units feature nine-foot ceilings, open floor plans with well-designed kitchens outfitted with stainless steel appliances including a gas stove, washers and dryers, spacious bathrooms and storage with many units offering walk-in closets. All units feature a contemporary color palette with sleek, modern cabinetry, quartz countertops, wood-style flooring and fiber communication systems.
Abundant communal spaces at The Garey Bldg. offer a variety of options for indoor and outdoor gathering, entertainment, collaborative work areas and relaxation – all with available WiFi.
“The combination of modern design, common area amenities and central location make The Garey Bldg. a popular residential option in the Arts District. It is 78 percent occupied, a strong performance for a new apartment property that has outpaced our projections,” noted Wulf.
The Garey Bldg. is a joint venture between Lowe Enterprises, Megatoys, which has owned the property for more than 20 years, and institutional investors advised by J.P. Morgan Asset Management. Cushman and Wakefield, led by Matthew Fainchtein and Carter Magnin, are the commercial leasing brokers for The Garey Bldg.
