About BIC Violex SA
Violex was founded in 1952 as a family business in Peristeri, Attica, Greece. In the early sixties, the company had the largest market share in Greece producing two-peak razor blades (ASTOR). In 1973 the company designed and produced the first disposable razor worldwide. In 1974 Violex joins forces with the French group BIC that had made a similar revolution with the disposable pen. In 1999 Violex is being acquired by BIC group, however BIC Violex in Greece rightly retains its global profile as in the company’s premises in Athens the group designs, fabricates and produces 70% of the branded razors that are being sold across the globe. Over one billion BIC razors -10 million blades per day- are being manufactured per year in the company’s four- unit production facilities in Attica and from there they are dispatched to the five continents, to 153 countries. BIC razors occupy the first place in the list of products that are being exported to America. Exports last year grew by 25.5% with sales reaching 106 million Euro. Innovation is deeply engraved in the company’s DNA, as in the past eight years Bic Violex SA has registered more than 40 patents, proving in practice that the company’s 1250 employees in Greece work in a hard and methodical way.
