LRQA’s Food Safety Expert Cor Groenveld Re-Elected as Chairman of FFSC Board
(PRWEB UK) 17 December 2013 -- Cor Groenveld, LRQA Global Head of Food Supply Chain Services, has been re-elected as Chairman of the Foundation for Food Safety Certification (FFSC) Board, with his new term of office being for the next five years.
The Foundation is the owner of the complete food safety management system certification scheme, FSSC 22000, covering manufacturing of food products, ingredients and packaging material and will shortly incorporate animal feed into its scope. FSSC 22000 has seen remarkable growth since its launch five years ago with almost 6500 certificates issued to food organisations around the world.
As a non-profit organisation the Foundation facilitates and owns the scheme and manages its copyright with licence agreements. In addition, the FFSC focuses on the international compliance and adaptability of food safety standards and the maintenance of certification and auditing food safety systems.
Commenting on his re-election, Groenveld said, “I am delighted to be re-appointed as Chairman of the FFSC Board. The Foundation does a tremendous amount of work in promoting the value of independent assurance and food safety and I am looking forward to meeting the challenges that lie ahead to ensure that we keep our food supply chains safe and sustainable.”
Retailers and food manufacturers are increasingly applying a risk-based management systems approach across all of their sites and suppliers, helping them drive sustainability and food safety across their global supply chains.
