Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré to Speak at WorldSafe Summit
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 05, 2017 -- The Safe America Foundation is pleased to announce that Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré will speak at the inaugural WorldSafe Summit October 26-28, 2017 at the Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center. His speaking engagement is sponsored by Crawford & Company, the world’s largest publicly listed independent provider of insurance claims management solutions to insurance companies and self-insured employers.
This year's theme – ‘Training for Global Safety’ – will emphasize the importance of safety exercises with planned special drills during the third day of the conference.
During the conference, General Honoré will share his analysis of how to protect American cities based on what he learned from the impact Katrina had on New Orleans and Louisiana. Prior to his command of Joint Task Force-Katrina – leading the Department of Defense response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana – General Honoré served in a variety of command and staff positions which focused on Defense Support to Civil Authorities/Homeland Defense.
As Vice Director for Operations, J-3, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C., and, as the Commander, Standing Joint Force Headquarters-Homeland Security, United States Northern Command, Honoré’s focus was Defense Support to Civil Authorities and Homeland Defense. In addition, Honoré announced that he will join the SafeAmerica Foundation’s Board of Directors.
“I decided to join Safe America's leadership team because I'm very impressed with Safe America's agenda,” Honoré noted. “While there are many safety organizations out there, none is as committed to safety as Safe America. And, none are as widely-focused in five critical areas: disaster readiness, transportation, community safety, technology/cyber and global issues such as human trafficking."
“We are very excited to have a speaker of this caliber to address the issues of safety in our communities and our world. Honoré has an incredible background in homeland security, preparedness and disaster relief," remarked SafeAmerica CEO Len Pagano. “Having General Honoré help ‘command’ our BE Safe America preparedness drive will reinforce the need for attendees to realize that in any emergency, they are their own first responder.”
