Lt. Governor Casey Cagle Presents Excellence in Innovation Award to Identity Sciences, LLC

Governor, the award recognizes outstanding innovative achievements by Georgia’s entrepreneurs. The Lieutenant Governor’s Excellence in Innovation Award recognizes individuals, companies, nonprofits and organizations that continually pioneer products, services and ways of doing things that ultimately create a better tomorrow for Georgia.

IDS was founded in 2006 and has focused primarily on developing a unique, cutting-edge identification process, the AbP∙ID® Human Identification System. The basic science on which it is based, antibody profiling, was developed at the Idaho National Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy facility. IDS licensed the technology and took it from a laboratory concept to the automated high tech product it is today. The initial primary application was as a forensic tool to identify suspects at a crime scene, but as the technology evolved, the possibilities for the product increased ten-fold.
The AbP∙ID Human Identification System, which consists of four individual products, has applications not only in forensics and crime scene investigations, but in healthcare, safety, the military and anti-poverty programs, as well as security for both the public and private sectors. It is the only human identification tool with the ability to differentiate identical twins, therefore making it the only system capable of serving as the basis for a national identification card/program.
The IDS technology has previously received an R&D 100 Award issued by R&D Magazine, which is considered to be the most prestigious honor in Applied Research and is often called the “Oscars of Innovation.” The cutting-edge technology also received the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) Award for Excellence in Technology Transfer which recognizes laboratory employees and their partners for outstanding work in transferring federally developed technology to the marketplace.
