Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 17, 2014 -- On June 19th, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue will join hundreds of nonprofit organizations in the DC Area for an innovative 24-hour online fundraiser- Do More 24. This community-wide fundraiser powered by the United Way of the National Capital Area will help Lucky Dog Animal Rescue raise much needed funding for its mission of rescuing homeless and abandoned dogs from high kill shelters.
“We are thrilled to be participating in Do More 24,” said Mirah Horowitz, executive director and founder of Lucky Dog Animal Rescue. “Our organization has only two sources of funding: adoption fees, which do not always cover the cost of saving each animal from certain death, and donations. Without our amazing donors, we could not save more than 100 lives each month.”
Last year, 12,000 Do More 24 donors contributed $1.3 million to more than 500 participating non-profits in this single day of giving. Lucky Dog Animal Rescue hopes to help them increase that number. Every dollar can make a difference in a homeless or abandoned pet’s life.
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue has announced that the first $5,000 raised during Do More 24 will be fully matched by a generous donor.
What will Lucky Dog do with the money it raises?
• $10 Vaccinates a Lucky Dog
• $24 is a month of Flea and Tick and Heartworm Prevention for a Lucky Dog helping to protect him or her from life threatening diseases.
• $48 equals all three rounds of puppy vaccinations ensuring a puppy is on his or her way to a long and healthy life.
• $96 covers the spay or neuter of one Lucky Dog and takes a step towards solving the problem of pet overpopulation.
“We need the support of all the animal lovers in the DC Area,” said Horowitz. “Please donate, spread the word and help Lucky Dog win cash prizes, like $15,000 prize for the most unique donors.”
Donations open at 12:00 am on June 19th and run through 11:59 pm. Donations must be received through the do more 24 website: https://domore24.org/#npo/lucky-dog-animal-rescue.
About Lucky Dog Animal Rescue
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.
