LULAC Establishes Coalition Tasked with Ensuring that Latino Community Takes Advantage of President Obama's Executive Orders on Immigration
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) February 09, 2015 -- The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all Latinos have access to information and resources necessary to take advantage of the opportunities made available by President Obama's recent administrative action amending immigration policy.
In June of 2012, President Obama announced an expansion of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program for youth who came to the United States as children. In November of 2014, President Obama announced the Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA) program. It allows for undocumented immigrant parents to request deferred action from deportation and obtain employment authorization. Both of these announcements represent tremendous opportunities for Latinos to finally move out of the shadows.
LULAC has established a coalition to assist over 100,000 individuals with the application process for the DACA and DAPA programs and related issues. The coalition will consist of LULAC; The Hispanic Federation (HF) and The Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) among others. Each of these groups will be discussing this collaboration including how it will provide such services.
As part of a separate effort, in partnership with the Hispanic Federation (HF), and with the generous donation from the Walmart Foundation, LULAC will be discussing specifically how it will be providing assistance for DACA applications through its Hispanic Immigrant Integration Project (HIIP).

What: LULAC will discuss its Hispanic Immigrant Integration Project (HIIP) regarding President Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. In addition, the country's leading civil rights organizations representing labor and minority groups will discuss their collaborative efforts in order to help individuals complete applications for DAPA.
