LULAC to Mark Hispanic Heritage Month with Annual Capitol Hill Advocacy Day

Washington, DC (PRWEB) September 13, 2016 -- This September, the nation’s oldest and largest Latino civil rights organization will host its annual LULAC Capitol Hill Advocacy Day. LULAC members from across the country will conduct advocacy visits with over 50 congressional offices from both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives. LULAC members will also meet with the Judiciary Committee, Education and the Workforce Committee, Natural Resources Committee, Energy and Commerce Committee, and Members from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

LULAC’s Capitol Hill Advocacy Day will include the bipartisan participation of Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD), Congressman Will Hurd (R-TX), Congressman Marc Veasey (D-TX), among other champions.

LULAC will kick off the Capitol Hill Advocacy Day with a press conference on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. The press conference will include remarks from congressional members and Latino leaders regarding the importance of the Latino vote and the current efforts underway to register Latino voters. The leaders will also discuss how Trump’s anti-Latino and misogynist rhetoric has alienated an important voting block that is critical to winning the White House.
