Lumense Selects Manufactured Assemblies Corp (MAC) as its Production Partner
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 15, 2015 -- Lumense, an Atlanta-based developer of real-time sensors capable of continuously measuring the concentration of trace chemicals and biologicals in gases and liquids, announced today the selection of Manufactured Assemblies Corp. (MAC) as its contract assembly partner.
Lumense will continue to produce the device’s core sensing component and accompanying optical subassembly at separate facilities located on or near the Georgia Tech campus,

Lumense’s sensor products, based on technology originated at Georgia Tech, have applications across a host of sectors, including the agricultural, food and beverage, and water industries. Lumense first product, the Lumense Ammonia Monitor, is focused on the nation’s $25 billion poultry industry and will begin shipping in March. It allows poultry farmers, for the first time, to continuously monitor house ammonia levels and automatically adjust ventilation, improving house performance and better ensuring bird welfare.
Lumense plans to highlight the capabilities of its Ammonia Monitor and begin offering it for sale at the upcoming International Production & Processing Expo. Scheduled from Jan. 27 through Jan. 29, the expo, which is in Atlanta, is the world’s largest poultry, meat and feed industry event of its kind.
Lumense offers real-time, in situ, chemical and biological sensors for use in a broad range of applications, including those in the water, food and beverage, and agriculture sectors. Lumense developed SensorIT, a common, scalable sensor platform augmented with low cost optical detectors customized for specific targets, allowing customers to move from a reactive to a proactive approach to contaminant management and recipe control. The SensorIT platform continuously detects trace amounts of dozens of different substances, many of which previously could only be detected and quantified with expensive laboratory equipment after sampling. The Lumense Ammonia Monitor is the first product released under Lumense’s SensorIT technology platform. As part of the platform, customers will be able to view and manage their sensor data remotely and securely. In addition to the Ammonia Monitor, other products include a sensor for detecting trace levels of impurities in gases used by the food and beverage industry and a sensor for monitoring water quality.
