Lumeta Launches Cloud Initiative
Somerset, NJ (PRWEB) March 17, 2014 -- Lumeta Corporation today announced the addition of cloud and virtual machine (VM) versions of its Lumeta IPsonar and Lumeta Enterprise Situational Intelligence (ESI) network situational awareness solutions. With these new deployment capabilities, customers can take advantage of the convenience and quick implementation of a software-as-a-service (SaaS) delivery model, as well as benefit from a pay-as-you-go alternative to on-premises infrastructure. Additionally, because Lumeta ESI listens to and crawls physical or virtual networks in near-real time, ESI enables organizations to gain network situational awareness of their presence in private, public and hybrid clouds.
Today’s IT departments remain concerned with the management and security of network infrastructures that are increasingly obfuscated by cloud and virtualization technologies. With cloud computing, organizations have the ability to dynamically add, remove, migrate, scale-up and down capacity on demand as needed, increasing the frequency of changes to their network. The potential for virtual machine sprawl and for a loss of control of network asset management is heightened. There are also security concerns regarding unauthorized access to, or exfiltration of, proprietary and customer information. Managing traditional systems in addition to virtual systems within public and private clouds brings inevitable complexities. Customers want a holistic simpler way to manage and secure their entire IT infrastructure.
Lumeta ESI provides visibility into the dynamic nature of the cloud in real time – discovering, mapping and alerting topology changes of networks that include transitory servers (VMs) and other network infrastructure (gateways, switch/router/firewall and forwarding devices). ESI behaves as an active participant, listening and interrogating in a physical or virtual network to form a holistic view, providing perspective of network vulnerability from within a network data center, throughout any cloud instances, including exposure of leak paths to partner networks or to the Internet.
“Today, enterprise and government customers run increasing workloads on cloud services, including private (virtualized) cloud models and IaaS/PaaS public cloud,” said Reggie Best, chief product officer at Lumeta. “Lumeta ESI can work seamlessly across dispersed environments – physical, mobile, virtualized, cloud – to provide comprehensive visibility into all network activity and networked devices regardless of where they are located or whether they are physical or virtual in nature.”
Best continued: “Lumeta has traditionally worked with large, globally distributed enterprises and government networks. The new cloud and VM offerings will not only give these types of customers more deployment options, but will open up network situational awareness capabilities to organizations that were previously hesitant to migrate to public or hybrid cloud models. Enabling customers to gain network situational awareness – regardless of their specific physical or virtual make up – is a top priority for us as it represents the foundation for an effective, holistic network security program.”
How It Works
Lumeta network situational awareness solutions provide customers with a comprehensive view of all IP connections and devices on their network, including those previously unknown. Comprised of multiple discovery methods including network, host, enhanced perimeter and leak path discovery, Lumeta uses active scanning, passive listening and advanced profiling techniques to map everything that's on the network (not just an IP range that is supplied for scanning) resulting in a comprehensive view of the entire routed infrastructure. Lumeta ESI acts in real time to detect changes to the network topology. The solution also provides alerts regarding possible security violations and network vulnerabilities, identifying events or configurations linked to adversarial or anomalous conditions at the enterprise level.
Cloud-based deployments of Lumeta ESI place a virtual ESI Command Center in the Lumeta Cloud and virtual ESI Scouts in the customer’s cloud instance (private and/or public).
Availability & Pricing
Both IPsonar 6.0 and ESI 2.1 are scheduled for general availability in April 2014. Pricing starts at $6,101 for an annual subscription (SaaS).
