Luoro Launches Crowdfunding Campaign for Interdental Brush That’s Fast, Effective, and Comfortable

A daily oral care routine is the key for healthy teeth and gums and interdental cleaning is a crucial part of this. Unfortunately, most people find flossing cumbersome and uncomfortable.The use of interdental brushes is associated with lower risk for periodontitis, tooth loss, heart attacks and diabetes, but many interdental toothbrushes tend to bend and break or stab gums.
Wingbrush features a patented feeler and plug that easily docks on interdental space so there’s no injuring gums. Users simply set the feeler on the gap between their teeth. They then press the two parts of the Wingbrush together. Food remains and plaque are removed effectively and comfortably.
“Interdental spaces make up almost 40% of the tooth’s area, but they can’t be reached by conventional toothbrushes,” said co-founder and dentist Dr. Louis Bahlmann. “People rarely floss or use existing interdental toothbrushes because the process is uncomfortable and time consuming. Because of this, food remains and plaque build up in these spaces and are often the cause of cavities, yellowing, bad breath, and periodontitis, which can lead to more serious dental diseases.”
After a successfully funded crowdfunding campaign in December 2016, Wingbrush now includes improved brush size, stronger tension through the new patented plug, and a soft coated wire brush that is gentle on gums and the tooth surface. The long handle makes it easy to reach back teeth.

Post-campaign, two different sets will be available: Starter and Complete. The Starter Set includes 3 brushes (each size), while the Complete Set includes 8 (with any choice of sizes). The replaceable brushes are available in three sizes: Extra Small (0.4 mm wire; 1.8mm bristle), Small (0.45mm wire; 2.2mm bristle), and Medium/Large (0.5mm wire; 2.5-4.5mm bristle). While Extra Small is made for universal use or small gaps, Small is best for those with larger gaps, crowns, bridges, or implants, and Medium/Large is best suited for those with periodontitis or especially large gaps. Having multiple sizes is important, as every mouth is unique and needs individual prophylaxis.
The International Journal of Hygiene has published Luoro GmbH’s study at the University of Bonn on the effectiveness of Wingbrush, The study showed that test subjects reached more interdental spaces with Wingbrush than with a competing interdental brush. Regarding subjective comfort, participants also favored Wingbrush.
“As a dentist, I hear people say everyday how they know they should floss more, but there’s always an excuse,” said Bahlmann. “With Wingbrush, you don’t even have to look in the mirror to use it.
