Luxury Brand Jill Milan Reintroduces Thoroughbred Bag in Support of Southern California Thoroughbred Rescue
San Francisco (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- Jill Milan®, a provider of designer Italian handbags, today announced it has reintroduced its Thoroughbred Bag in support of Southern California Thoroughbred Rescue, a non-profit organization which rescues at-risk Thoroughbred horses from slaughter. Jill Milan will donate 25 percent of sales of the Thoroughbred Bag to SCTR.
SCTR rescues Thoroughbreds of all ages with a primary goal of rescuing horses at livestock and “low-end” auctions which sell horses for the value of their meat. The Thoroughbreds SCTR cares for typically were bought at prestigious yearling sales for amounts exceeding $100,000 when they were racing prospects, but later often sell at livestock auctions for as little as $185.
“These are fine animals which unfortunately can end up in unsafe situations,” said Jill Milan founder and CEO Jill Fraser. “We are happy to support SCTR in even a small way for the wonderful work it does.”
The Thoroughbred Bag is available in chocolate-colored faux leather. It features a handmade horse head in palladium-coated brass, pockets inside and out, and is priced at $700.
Jill Milan previously announced support of SCTR with the introduction of the brand’s first jewelry item, the Lucky Pendant. The Lucky pendant was designed by a leading California designer of luxury jewelry and features a horse’s head in profile. Made in Florence, Italy, of sterling silver, the Lucky pendant is available in limited release and retails for $150. It is available for purchase directly from Southern California Thoroughbred Rescue at http://sctbrescue.org/The_Lucky_Pendant.html. All net proceeds go to SCTR.
The Jill Milan collection of luxury handbags is made entirely in Italy, by Italian artisans using Italian materials. Features include hand stitching and metalwork handmade by craftsmen who create jewelry for Europe’s leading luxury brands. All Jill Milan products are free of animal-based materials such as leather, fur and wool.
Jill Milan handbags have become a favorite of celebrities for red carpet events. Laura Dern, Rashida Jones, Bryce Dallas Howard and Katie Lowes were among the actresses who carried Jill Milan to this month’s Golden Globe Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Actress Amy Poehler carried Jill Milan to the Emmy Awards in September, and other celebrities carrying Jill Milan on the red carpet include 2013 Academy Award recipients Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence.
