Lymphoma Research Foundation to Return to Washington, DC Area for Research Ride in September
Washington, DC (PRWEB) September 14, 2017 -- The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – will host its 11th annual Lymphoma Research Ride, a noncompetitive cycling event held each year in Montgomery County, Maryland on September 24, 2017.
This year’s event will once again be held during Blood Cancer Awareness Month at the Barnesville School in Barnesville, Maryland. Riders of all skill levels are welcome and can choose to ride a 10, 25, 40 or 50 mile routes. Over the last ten years, the Lymphoma Research Ride has raised more than $4.7 million in support of the Lymphoma Research Foundation's mission of eradicating lymphoma and serving those impacted by this blood cancer. Last year alone, more than 310 riders from throughout the country participated in the 10th Anniversary event, raising more than $500,000 in the process.
“Now, with a decade of momentum behind the Lymphoma Research Ride, excitement for this year’s Ride has never been higher,” said Dr. Bruce Cheson, MD, FACP, FAAAS, Georgetown University Hospital Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, Past Chair of LRF’s Scientific Advisory Board, and co-founder of the Lymphoma Research Ride. “While we have had an incredible 10 years of success with this event, we look forward to more Lymphoma Research Rides and the critical fundraising dollars that it raises for the blood cancer research.”
Riders of all skill levels are encouraged to participate in the day’s festivities, which include catered breakfast and lunch, a DJ, and special presentations. Children ages 10 and above are eligible to ride if accompanied by an adult rider. Individual riders will be asked to raise a minimum of $1,000 to participate, and children ages 10 - 17 will be asked to raise a minimum of $50.
