MADD Michigan Holds Meeting with A Forever Recovery Staff
(PRWEB) August 06, 2015 -- On May 1st, 2015, A Forever Recovery, an open-ended holistic treatment center for substance abuse, invited representatives of the Michigan “Mothers Against Drunk Driving” Chapter (MADD) to tour their facility and grounds on St. Mary’s Lake in Battle Creek, MI. The group was there to learn about their unique rehabilitation program. MADD Michigan’s Program Director Tyler Maceachran, Victim Services Specialist Angel Harris, and MADD Affiliate Marsha Heimbach visited the recovery center and spoke with A Forever Recovery’s Deputy Executive Director Lewis Anderson as well as some of the patients that were currently going through the treatment program.
“We were honored to have representatives from a group like MADD come to our recovery center,” commented A Forever Recovery’s founder and CEO Per Wickstrom. “Their organization has done so much for our communities in regards to raising awareness about the dangers of alcohol abuse. We hope that we are able to support them in their mission of fighting this terrible problem that we call addiction.”
About MADD
Mothers Against Drunk Driving is a very well known organization that was founded in 1980 by the mother of a child who was killed in an alcohol-related car accident. The priorities of MADD are stated as “The mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving is to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes and prevent underage drinking.”
One of the MADD visitors to A Forever Recovery that day was Marsha Heimbach, a mother who has also lost a child to drunk driving.
“This is absolutely incredible,” she stated in an interview after her tour. “The way they cover every single avenue, and as an individual, not as a group following a pre-set script. Very incredible facility.”
Program Director Tyler Maceachran had this to say; “It’s been an experience. Folks that are repairing themselves, reaching out to the community in a positive way to partner with us and to support what we are trying to do, it has been very genuine and incredibly positive.”
A video of these interviews is available for viewing on the A Forever Recovery YouTube channel.
A Forever Recovery is clear on their commitment to reaching out to other like-minded organizations, helping to raise awareness about drug abuse and alcoholism and the dangerous effects that these problems have on today’s society. Through community activism, like supporting MADD, showing solidarity in the fight against addiction, and educating our teens and young adults on the deadly problems of substance abuse, AFR is dedicated to doing all it can to help in making addiction a thing of the past.
