Magma to Offer More than Expansion Enclosures
San Diego, California (PRWEB) April 13, 2015 -- Magma, which manufactures high performance expansion computing solutions, today announced it will begin offering expansion chassis with integrated third party components to customers, according to Jim Medeiros, Magma worldwide strategic business manager. The MCS-3450, the first product in the Magma appliance portfolio, is a combination of the recently released high performance computing ExpressBox 3450, and gives customers a choice of up to four Nvidia K40c (active cooled) GPUs.
“We intend for our product line to make it seamless to add components, like GPUs, to workstations and servers for system integrators,” said Medeiros. “By having pre-tested configurations, Magma is decreasing integration times and reducing costs associated with delivering configured solutions.”
Magma’s appliances are pre-tested and certified configurations of third-party components in expansion chassis. The appliance family will eventually support a variety of options, such as other models of GPUs and SSDs, the MCS-3450 currently supports both workstation and server rack mounting options.
“We see the MCS-3450 as a perfect fit for many high performance computing applications, especially in media and entertainment, CAD/CAM and oil and gas exploration,” said Tim Miller, Magma president. “The size and portability of this GPU appliance will be appealing to desktop and workstation users as well as professionals in need of on-site computing horsepower.”
The MCS-3450 will be available for order at the end April and will begin shipping in May. Interested customers can contact Magma sales via ales(at)magma(dot)com and see the chassis in person at NAB from April 12-16.
