Major General Steven Smith, United States Army Retired Joins Big Sky Advisory Board: Will Provide Counsel in Several Key Areas
WASHINGTON, DC (PRWEB) March 24, 2015 -- Big Sky Associates is pleased to announce the addition of Major General Steven (Steve) Smith to its Advisory Board. Smith will serve in an advisory capacity for the defense, security, and insider threat focused company and will work alongside Big Sky’s senior leadership team to develop innovative solutions in these key areas.

General Smith brings to Big Sky the vast expertise of a 39-year career, during which he has demonstrated remarkable leadership in executive-level roles in both uniformed and civilian capacities. He specializes in cyber defense risk mitigation, strategic planning, complex project management, product development, network operations, telecommunications, and financial management.
Most recently, MG Smith served as Senior Military Advisor to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army, Manpower & Reserve Affairs, where he counseled the Assistant Secretary on all training, readiness, and mobilization issues for the Army. He is also the former Commanding General of the U.S. Army Central Command, 335th Theater Signal Command/Army Central Command (USARCENT) CIO. In this role, he led 2,800 soldiers and civilians deployed across the Middle East, and successfully integrated all theater-wide Army strategic command, control, communications, and computer (C4) systems connectivity. He also provided oversight and accountability for C4 commercialization efforts and tactical network conversion, and managed a $450 million operating budget.
General Smith served the United States for over 39 years in the Army National Guard, and in the Army Reserves. Additionally, he has held numerous executive positions for a diverse group of industry corporations. MG Smith holds a BS in Education from The Citadel; an MS in Strategic Studies from United States Army War College; and an MPA from Western Kentucky University.
